'People are fearful' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the squad everyone fears.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now many people's favorites to claim the Premier League this season.

Look at their outcomes against Newcastle and Crystal Palace compared to those equivalent matches last season.

The Gunners have beaten all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race last season.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive strength is a crucial element why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title target.

They rank top for unbreached games (6), shots let in (3), attempts against (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the best in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their threat from set-pieces is highly documented, but opposition teams still find it difficult to contain the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Claims

What is particularly remarkable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they maintain victories, their traditional rivals are struggling. This marks the initial occasion at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having spent around £250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far yielded results in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the strongest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and determination.
